Homeless Night Out
Hello LG 33-
I wanted to cordially invite everyone to this years ‘Homeless Night Out.’ In recognition of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, hundreds of local residents will gather under the stars on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6PM – 11:30PMto get a street-level glimpse into the lives of the homeless. Homeless Night Out, now in its second year, is a community event intended to raise awareness and boost support for Project GRACE: The Gainesville/Alachua County 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness.
Please join us Wednesday evening to help inform the community about what is being done currently, and more importantly, what we will be doing in the future, to end homelessness. The event features live entertainment, food, services, and speakers from the streets, area social service agencies, and local and state government.
The Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry is asking anyone who can to leave their blankets, tents or other sleeping gear on the plaza afterwards for pickup, cleaning, and distribution to the homeless throughout the winter. Members of the Coalition will also be on hand for people to drive past the Plaza and drop off donations of blankets, coats, scarves, knit caps and canned food to help those without homes make it through the winter.
Please join us for this important event as we continue our work to ensure ending homelessness among men, women and children remains a high priority for our friends and neighbors in Alachua County.
Please see the attached flyer! If anyone is interested or in need of volunteer hours please contact me!
Thanks!
Beth
