Tyler's Hope

I'm not sure how many of you know about the charity that Rick Staab set up on behalf of his son Tyler, so I thought I would pass along the web site address. I so admire the way Rick and his wife have battled on behalf of their son and others who have dystonia.

It just have to say that yesterdays Quality of Life session was ROCKIN!!! Did anyone else get a speeding ticket leaving the Drag strip? Just kidding….. We had the Developer VS Land Planner Cage Match, The Parks and Recreation Virtual Tour, and the Grand Finale Drag Strip SHOWDOWN!!! How did Fast did the Mustang go? Did anyone break 92 MPH mark? Can we finish every session at the race track?

Just a reminder, our free lunch time Fish Fry is today at the Funeral Home 725 NW 23rd Ave.

Comments on Quality of Life from Joe Lowry

Okay folks. I have to admit that I have been extremely excited about this week's LG session. I have been formulating race strategy ever since I got Cruise Director Jan's e-mail, but I am also concerned:
1. Where is the pride, misplaced or otherwise, that should be present for an event like this? Are you all that concerned about getting smoked by my San Marino Red 2001 Honda Accord Coupe? My tricked-out ride has been modified with window film, all-weather mats, and performance-altering (yeah right) chrome exhaust tips!
2. I don't want anybody to bow out of racing because they don't think their car is fast enough, or heaven forbid, due to fear. For anyone to voluntarily decline the challenge would make my victory less meaningful.
See you tomorrow.

Joe

Chamber Business of the Year Awards

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce hosted it's annual Business of the Year Luncheon today. Congratulations to all the winners, but I am most proud of the Leadership Gainesville representation, especially the LG33 Class! The winners that were represented in the LG33 class were: LifeSouth, AmSouth, and Gainesville Regional Airport. Jim Stringfellow (LG1) spoke on behalf of the airport and sang the praises of Alan Penska. Way to go Alan!

I am so proud of the leadership all of you offer this community and can't wait to see what you will accomplish as graduates of Leadership Gainesville.

Way to go!
